A pretty example of vintage WW2 dresses- maybe this one is for a USO dance? It is comprised of navy blue rayon crepe and features ivory lace appliques on the puffed short sleeves.
The bodice is darted at the waist, not bust; The surplice bodice has fullness via under-bust gathers. The skirt is smooth at the waist and hips, then slightly A-line. It has a hidden side plastic zipper., which may have been added later or replaced the one that was there. There is a built-in self-belt attached at the sides at the waist. As a final touch, the hem is pleated the final 8" of the skirt.
No label, but its well made, and could be at home in movies like " The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society"!
